Would the Leader in Me Please Stand Up?
On Friday, I was interviewed for a unit on leadership. I wanted to share it with you. Both Christiaan, my colleague and friend, and I, were moved by the shared themes that emerged – not least because of the world situation we are living right now.
I started with a section of a poem by W.B. Yeats, entitled The Second Coming: it reads as if written for today (italics mine):
“Everything falls apart The Second Coming:
“Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.”
The world we live in: The best lack conviction… the worst are full of passionate intensity.
Here it is:
Maeve. Someone on the Plenary Council mentioned your name, and now I’ve read some of your delightful poetry, and listened to your inspirational music. Well done, woman of God. Thank you, Mick
Thank you, Mick! I appreciate your feedback.
